Dugat-Py

Domaine Dugat-Py is no stranger in Burgundy. The Dugat family has been producing wine in the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation since the 17th century, but the domaine has only been bottling their own wines since 1989. The 12th and 13th generations are currently at the helm of the winery. Over the centuries, unique traditions have been established, and they can still be found in the wine cellar. The winery in its current form was created when Jocelyne Py married Bernard Dugat in 1994, and Domaine Dugat-Py was born.

Dugat-Py owned five hectares of vineyards at that time, three of which were classified as grand cru. After a number of years of experimenting with organic viticulture, they have been working entirely organically since 2003. The vineyard area has now grown to ten hectares. Most vines are very old, about 65 years. The Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are harvested relatively early. Whether the stems are also fermented depends on the year of the harvest and the quality of the grapes.

The wines are fermented in both cement and oak barrels. The wines age in French oak for an average of 16 to 18 months. 100% new oak is used for the grand cru wines. For the village wines, this share is 10%. The grand cru wines of Dugat-Py are Chambertin Très Vieilles Vignes, Mazis-Chambertin, Charmes-Chambertin and Mazoyères-Chambertin. For several years now, the winery has also had vineyards in Meursault and since then they have also produced an excellent wine from this appellation. The wines of Dugat-Py are very approachable in their youth, but they are at their peak after 5 to 8 years of bottle aging.

The winery has already received several high scores from international wine journalists. For example, several cuvées from 2014 were awarded more than 90 Parker points.
