Domaine Rapet

Domaine Rapet Père et Fils is an old family-owned domaine, situated in the village of Pernand-Vergelesses in the Côte de Beaune region of Burgundy. Its origin can be dated back to 1765 by a 18th century tastevin (a silver wine-tasting cup traditionally carried by a sommelier) which has been kept in the family since.

The estate currently comprises 20 Ha of land, situated in the villages of Pernand-Vergelesses, Beaune, Savigny-Les-Beaune, Chorey-Les-Beaune and Aloxe-Corton. Both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines have been planted in the various vineyards, which include parcels in 3 Grands Crus: Corton-Charlemagne (white wine), Corton (red wine) and Corton Pougets (red wine), all situated on the slope of the Corton hill, and 9 Premier Cru plots.

The Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is aged for 12 months in 30% new oak barrels before being bottled. The Corton Grand Cru and Corton Pougets Grand Cru are aged for 16 months in up to 20% new oak barrels and are filtered before being bottled.

The Domaine Rapet Père et Fils is managed since the 1990’s by Vincent Rapet and he is responsible for the construction of the new winery in 2003 and further expansion of the domaine’s vineyard holdings. Furthermore, the overall quality of the wines has remarkably increased during the last 2 decades. They are characterized by its terroir, richness, fruit components and ageing possibilities, although most of the wines produced at the domaine can be approached at an early stage.

Top recent vintages for Domaine Rapet Père et Fils’ red wines are: 1985, 1990, 2002, 2005, 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2015. For the white wines (particularly the Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru): 1992, 1995, 2004, 2005, 2009, 2010, 2012, and 2014.

In June 2023, it was announced that Domaine Rapet had been acquired by la Maison Joseph Drouhin.
