Cecile Tremblay

Winemaker Cécile Tremblay did not hesitate for a moment to take back the family plots when she got the chance. Before that time, the vineyards had been sold to other producers, until Cécile successfully completed her education at the Lycée Viticole in Beaune in 2003 and chose to start producing wine herself. She aims to create harmonious conditions between the environment, the vineyard, the grapes and the land. Therefore all activities are based on organic and biodynamic farming principles. For example, the position of the moon and the sun is taken into account. In addition, special herbs are used to breathe new life into the vines every year. The 4 hectare of land are spread out over eleven different appellations in Burgundy, with Chapelle Chambertin and Echezeaux du Dessus being the most commended vineyards.

The winery is located in Morey-Saint-Denis, in the middle of the Côte de Nuits. It is a small-scale winery, but that does not affect the quality. In fact, Cécile has built up a very good reputation for several years and is one of the most talented winemakers in the region.

Cécile Tremblay produces only red wines from the Pinot Noir grape. The harvest is brought in by hand. Fermentation takes place in wooden barrels and takes an average of three weeks. The decision to de-stem the grapes depends on the quality of the bunches. The barrels consist partly of new wood. The wines are usually aged in barrels for 15 to 18 months, after which the wines are bottled without fining or filtering. Her wines are pure, elegant and very refined. The wines are produced in limited editions and that makes them even more special. It is therefore challenging to get one of these beautiful wines. Cecile Tremblay's best vintages are: 2005, 2009, 2010, 2015 and 2016.
