Chateau Larcis-Ducasse

The history of Larcis Ducasse dates back to the 16th century, where the wines were known for their high quality and very popular. In 1867, a gold medal was awarded to the chateau at the Paris World Exposition for the quality of the wines and the profound terroir. In that era, the owner Pierre Ducasse produced 15 to 20 “tonneaus” (900-liter wooden barrels).

In 1893, Henry Raba, descendent of a well known Bordeaux family of wine merchants, bought Chateau Larcis Ducasse. In 2002, the family would confer the management of the chateau to Nicolas Thienpont. In 2012 Chateau Larcis Ducasse was promoted to 1er Grand Cru Classé status in the wine Classification of Saint Emilion.

Today, Château Larcis Ducasse remains the property of the descendants of the Raba family.

The vineyards of Larcis Ducasse measure 11 hectares. Production is around 34.000 bottles. The grape varieties are 78% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Franc. 

The terroir of the Larcis Ducasse vineyards consist of a limestone-clay-chalk plateau and hills.

Besides Chateau Larcis Ducasse a second wine is produced, named Murmure de Larcis Ducasse.

The wines mof Larcis Ducasse are highly rated. The 2005 received 100 Robert Parker points, The 2015-2022 are rated high in the 90's points.
