Wines from Chateau Lafleur Gazin

Chateau Lafleur Gazin

The Château Lafleur-Gazin vineyards are located on the Pomerol plateau in Bordeaux and cover a total area of 8.5 hectares. The vines on this plateau have an average age of thirty years. The estate has been owned by the Borderie family since 1930. But the winery is run by Jean-Pierre Moueix, a big name within the Pomerol appellation. The winery's name comes from its two famous neighbors: Châteu La Fleur-Pétrus and Château Gazin.

The vineyards are 85% planted with Merlot and 15% with Cabernet Franc. The soil is alluvial and consists of gravel, clay, sand and silt. The bunches of grapes are brought in by hand and rigorously selected. Concrete barrels, wooden barrels and stainless steel tanks, they are all used. The aging takes place in wooden barrels of French oak and lasts about 16 to 20 months. The winery does not produce a second wine. The entire wine production is supervised by Jean-Pierre Moueix.

The wine of Lafleur-Gazin is a traditional example of a Bordeaux wine. An elegant wine that is full of flavour, with primary fruit aromas and wood influences that complement each other nicely. The wine is layered and that makes it very complex. To drink Château Lafleur-Gazin when it’s young, it is recommended to carafe the wine for 1 to 2 hours. This way, the wine can open up, and the aromas come out better.

Château Lafleur-Gazin is one of the best wineries in Pomerol! The wine is internationally very popular among sommeliers and wine lovers.

The best vintages are: 1975, 1982, 1989, 1990, 1995, 1998, 2000, 2005, 2009, 2010, 2015, 2016 and 2018.
