Wines from Chateau Haut Batailley

Chateau Haut Batailley

Chateau Haut-Batailley is a 5th growth 1855 classified estate that was originally a part of Chateau Batailley. In 1942, it was split from its parent estate. Records of ownership of the estate go back to 1791. In 2017, the Cazes family, who also own Château Lynch-Bages, among others, acquired the Château Haut-Batailley estate.

The vineyard spans 20 hectares and is situated on deep Garonne gravel soils. Located to the south of Pauillac, the estate benefits from the homogeneity of the Saint Julien terroir. The vineyard is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon (70%), Merlot (25%), and Cabernet Franc (5%), with an average vine age of 40 years and a density of 10,000 vines per hectare.

The wines are aged in oak barrels for 14 to 16 months, with 50% new oak. Since 2017, Haut-Batailley has been producing a second wine called Verso.

Recent vintages of Haut-Batailley have been rated 90+ points by renowned wine journalists.
