Wines from Chateau La Lagune

Chateau La Lagune

Château La Lagune has a rich history dating back to the 16th century when the “Village de La Lagune” was built. In 1587, Monsieur Eyral converted the area into a wine-growing estate. The beautiful château that exists today was built between 1730 and 1734. It was classified as a third growth in the 1855 classification of Grands Crus Classés. Over the years, the estate has been owned by several families, including the Sèze family, before being acquired by the Frey family in 2000.

Château La Lagune's vineyards grow Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Merlot (30%), and Petit Verdot (10%). Besides Chateau La  Lagune, the estate also produces a second wine called “Moulin de La Lagune” and a third wine called “Mademoiselle L”. The vineyard covers 110 hectares (the production is 150.000 bottles) and is situated on gravelly hilltops. The estate has been implementing environmentally friendly viticulture practices based on organic and biodynamic farming methods. This natural approach allows the fruit to draw all the complexity and finesse from the soil and terroir, resulting in wines renowned for their balance, finesse, and elegance.

The grapes are fermented in temperature-controlled, stainless steel tanks, and the wine is then aged in oak barriques (70%-80% new) for an average of 16 months.
