Wines from Bodega Aalto

Bodega Aalto

In February 1999, Mariano Garcia and Javier Zaccagnini founded the AALTO project in Ribera del Duero, Spain. Their goal was to create a wine of high quality distinguished wine with a true representation of the terroirs.

In 2006, the Masaveu and Nozaleda families, who owned wineries in other Spanish wine regions, joined the AALTO project, bringing experience and stability to the winery.

Initially, AALTO produced their wines in rented facilities in Roa, Burgos, until they acquired a 15-hectare plot in Quitanilla de Arriba, Valladolid, in 2005 and built a new winery.

Currently, the winery controls 130 hectares of old, indigenous Tinto Fino vines, distributed across more than 200 plots in nine municipalities in the Ribera del Duero Appellation. Each vineyard is farmed with strict guidelines and no chemical fertilizers or herbicides, with all farming operations focused on quality.

The vineyards have varying ages ranging from 40 to 100 years old, with low yields and exceptional quality due to the different altitudes and climatology, which cause individual harvesting dates for each location.

The wines of AALTO, the Aalto en Aalto PS, are highly rated by a large number of wine journalists. The 2005 PS scored 98 points Parker.
