This unique rum, called "Papalin," is a blend of different Clairins from 2017, including Clairins Vaval, Sajous, Casimir, and Le Rocher, as well as sugarcane syrup rum from the Port-au-Prince distillery from 2018. The rum has been aged in various barrels, including Caroni and Mount Gay rum, bourbon from Buffalo Trace, and even cognac barrels. The end result is a rum with a deep Haitian character and a unique flavor.
When smelling the rum, one experiences fruity and vanilla aromas, along with notes of cloves, cayenne pepper, and camphor. When tasting the rum, one notices a rich and concentrated flavor of cane sugar, tuberose, praline, malt, acacia honey, and tobacco. The finish contains notes of vanilla, rice pudding, camphor, pear, mirabelle plum, and spicy tones of ginger and cinnamon. In short, Papalin is an exotic rum that stimulates all the senses.
